📖 About This Game

fairy light (フェアリーライト) is a two player card game from Japan. Players build up a 5x5 grid of cards and try score the most hearts from the cat fairy コットン (Cotton). Each player is the Sun or the Moon, and they shine down on the forest where Cotton lives. The Sun brings warmth and growth to the forest. The Moon brings safety and guidance at night to the forest creatures. Which does Cotton love more? The players have a small deck of cards with either Sun or Moons showing, including two double symbol cards. They also shuffle in 4 cards each, showing Cotton walking through the forest. The players draw three face-up cards from the deck, and a neutral Cotton card is placed to start the grid. Players take turns adding a card to the grid and drawing a fresh card. The cards can only go adjacent to existing cards, not diagonal, and the grid cannot be larger than 5 cards in either direction. The Cotton cards have arrows pointing in different directions (up/down, left/right, diagonally). The goal is to get the majority of Sun or Moon symbols along the lines that Cotton points to. Each player's Cotton cards also include their opponent's symbol too. At the end of the game, Cotton awards hearts to the player with the most Sun or Moon symbols on the paths, and the player with the most hearts wins the game. user summary
