📖 About This Game
The Crowdfunding Exclusive Nightmares: Sisters of Fate expansion brings the eternal fight against destiny, with the 3 Sisters, 1 new Scenario, and new mechanics to face them together!
Nightmares: Sisters of Fate brings a new scenario, allowing players to face the three Primordials with forces combined. Although Atropos and Lahkesis can also be used as common Bosses in any God of War: The Board Game session, they each have distinct Reference Dashboards and Behavior cards tailored specifically to this scenario, while Clotho is unique to this setting.
Facing the Sisters of Fate means confronting the essence of time itself, particularly within the surreal realm of dreams where time behaves in mysterious ways. In their unique scenario, players find themselves immersed in Kratos' dream projection of the Loom Chamber.
Victory hinges on defeating all three Sisters, a task that demands strategic manipulation of time itself. To aid in this endeavor, a new type of Bonus card, the green cards, are introduced into the Heroes' deck, and to use them, the strength Hero receives a new Attack card, the Amulet of the Fates, while the swift Hero gains a new co-op action. Additionally, a set of special Behavior cards, the Slow Time cards, are introduced to the game. These cards are not associated with any enemy, instead, they are added randomly to the Behavior deck by the Heroes when performing specific actions, and interact with any card that is under them: They prevent the next card from advancing the Menace track, and if the next card is an Atropos one, deal damage to her – which is the only way to decrease her health.
At the outset of the game, all three Sisters are present on the board, each with their unique Behaviors and passive effects that shape the flow of battle. Clotho, positioned at the center of the board, rotates with each activation, unleashing devastating damage upon zones within her reach, as indicated by a targeting token beneath her base. A double-faced Stop Time token present on the board also alters her Behavior. The initial side decreases the damage dealt to Clotho by half. However, by interacting with green cards the token can be flipped to the other side, doubling the damage she takes and allowing the Heroes to add a Slow Time card to the Behavior deck, then flipping back up at the end of the round.
Lahkesis roams the board, inflicting damage upon Heroes while providing support to her sisters. Her Behavior cards disrupt the predictability of her own and her sisters' actions as well as the likelihood of the Slow Time cards from reaching Atropos, as it reshuffles the Behavior and Runes deck, complicating the Heroes' strategies. However, there’s a silver lining to her presence: If Heroes manage to harm her with the Amulet of the Fates, they are allowed to add a Slow Time card to the deck.
Unlike her siblings, Atropos is more fragile but that doesn’t make her an easy enemy to defeat: She can only be harmed when a Behavior card is drawn before hers. And, although there are many ways to add them to the deck, chances decrease more and more as her Sisters as eliminated. Especially since Atropos herself can remove the cards from the deck as she activates.
When fighting this epic battle against these Primordial beings, players must coordinate their actions carefully to ensure that they are distributing their efforts towards eliminating each sister, while maximizing the advantage that each sister's presence brings to the fight against her siblings. But beware: Although eliminating a Sister offers some relief, traditional monsters enter the fray in their place as soon as they’re eliminated, ensuring the relentless nature of the challenge persists.
Clotho, the youngest and most imposing of the sisters, possesses a hefty 50 health points. Her resilience is further bolstered by her ability to mitigate half of the damage inflicted upon her. To defeat her, Heroes must combine their efforts to flip the Stop Time token and seize the opportunities to attack her before the token is flipped again.
In her role as a standard Boss, Lahkesis manipulates probability, disrupting the Heroes' efforts to build synergy by removing Monster tokens from their dashboard instead, most likely ones she had previously added herself, and by forcing Heroes to draw additional Runes and Behavior cards.
As a standard Boss, Atropos wields her power to manipulate destiny, thwarting the Heroes' plans. She achieves this by randomizing the card they intend to pass to another Hero when using the yellow co-op action, and forcing Runes and Behavior cards to be drawn more often.
