📖 About This Game
Long ago, the dwarves who worshipped the Sun of the Earth discovered its source - the Double Arc-in-Stone. The magical gemstone that is the source of all gold! To protect this treasure (and to prevent inflation) the ancient dwarves created the Mines of Dwarvia. It is an impenetrable maze of mechanism and magic that can only be accessed once in a thousand years. Now is your chance to conquer the mines and obtain infinite wealth or be turned into a midnight snack by a neutral-hued dragon. The race is on!
Mines of Dwarvia is a light-hearted competitive dungeon brawler designed for replayability, quick setup, strategy and fun. Make your hero, fight monsters, power up, equip loot and scheme your way to victory over your "friends". Take advantage of your character's unique abilities. Feign weakness while your opponents break themselves against each other. Claim victory from the unwary!
—description from the designer
In Mines of Dwarvia, players need to retrieve the Double Arc-in-Stone and exit the mines. Initially, the Double Arc-in-Stone can be found at the center of mine. It is claimed by the first player who reaches it. Other players can then take it by defeating the current holder in combat.
Each player has a character with random characteristics and abilities. Each turn, they may move their characters a number of spaces and cards cards to improve their situation. When a character enters a danger space, their movement ends, and one player may play a danger card that the active player may have to deal with. This may result in combat, which is resolved by rolling dice. At the end of their turn, the player draws one new card, which may be a trap or event that is resolved immediately.
Combat, traps, and events can cause a character to die. When that happens, the player simply creates a new character and starts anew — unless the Double Arc-in-Stone has already been found. In that case, the player is eliminated from the game.
Mines of Dwarvia is played on a board composed of four different rotating sections. At the start of the game, these are placed in a random configuration, creating the board layout.
