📖 About This Game

Nexus Revolution picks up where Nexus Syndicate left off: In a time of political and societal turmoil, a new party, The Ascendancy, is on the rise to absolute power in the galaxy. Their political opponents are largely eliminated, and parliamentary influence is crumbling. Now it is time for the final coup: Seizing the prime sector and establishing a new autocratic order, thereby concentrating power within a closed circle of elites. However, there is one force in the galaxy that seeks to thwart these plans: Nexus, the pan-galactic syndicate, that has long profited from political destabilisation (and indeed has been the driving force behind it). After realizing they have been sidelined by their former ally, they have been secretly plotting to exploit the political crisis to their advantage. In this asymmetric game of galactic conflict, you command elite operatives of either The Ascendancy (yellow) or Nexus (blue). Additionally, you get to control groups of civilians: the Ascendancy is supported by loyalists (green), while Nexus holds influence over the unruly mob (red). Gain territories through combat in individual sectors and score points by securing the prime sector – all while leveraging the unique abilities of your operatives. Nexus Revolution uses Looney Pyramids (from Looney Labs). Furthermore, a couple of dice, 9 hexagonal tiles and 24 custom setup cards are needed to play the game. One round consists of three phases: During the Movement Phase, both players take their turns in order, moving their pyramids, and, if certain requirements are met, carrying out a Transit Action (i.e., a side action prior to the Main Action Phase). In the following Main Action Phase, players take their turns in order again, carrying out up to three Basic Actions OR one Special Action tied to the abilities of their side. After both players’ turns, the Preparation Phase for the next round follows, including these steps: Prime Sector Scoring Discord Check & Spawning (each faction gets to distribute new pyramids across the sector tiles) Determine Starting Player Afterwards, the next round begins with the starting player’s turn. Once a player reaches 30+ VP (or if there are no possible moves to make for one player), final scoring is carried out. After tallying points from all sector tiles, including the most valuable prime sector tile, the player with the most VP wins the game (and claims dominion over the galaxy).
