📖 About This Game

Náttúruval is a game of unexpected competition in the animal kingdom. It's composed of a deck of of over a hundred cards, each with a different animal and their real life stats in six different categories. Players get a set of cards to their hand and roll a pair of custom die to see which category they are comparing. One dice determines the category and the other whether the lowest or highest value in the category wins. The categories are in order; number of letters in the scientific name number of offspring at a time average lifespan in the wild average length, head to toe, of an adult number of feet (or feet adjacent appendixes) average weight of an adult The players pick an animal from their hand that they think is the best for the match and then cards are revealed when everyone has played a card. The winner of that round puts the champion face up in front of them and the others are discarded. Then the game ends when the deck is exhausted. The main game is aimed at kids from 6-12 years old but there are multiple variations on the rules. One being a party version for grown ups where they persuade the group that their animal is the best fit for a random prompt like "Which animal would make the best president?" or "Which animal would be chosen as a spokesperson for a children's hospital?". And another for younger children to learn about animals and how to compare numbers. This is a great game for the whole family.
