📖 About This Game

The modern pentathlon sport was invented by baron Pierre de Coubertin at beginning of XXth century, as a new olympic contest. The boardgame "Pentathlon Moderne" allows two to four players disput the five disciplines (fencing, swimming, riding, pistol shooting and running) of this sport on a boardgame. The aim of the game is to win more gold medals than your opponents. Each player directs 5 athlete pawns and makes them progress on the different tracks by playing cards. The initial hand of cards is ten. When a player plays three of a kind, for example three "horse riding" cards, he must roll the dice to move his pawn forward on the equestrian course. You can also play a penalty card which cancels a set of threes placed by an opponent, or a bonus card which allows you to roll the dice twice on your turn. You can also simply discard a card and draw a new one. Each time a discipline finishes, a gold, silver and bronze medal is distributed to the top three finishers. —user summary
