The players take turns to roll and move. On some spaces events hinder or benefit the players. The first player to reach space 40 wins the game. If a sheep gets on an occupied space, the sheep standing three has to move one space back. Whenever a sheep encounters a wolf or a thief it runs back to the shepherd on space 2.
