📖 About This Game
When working with clients who are parents, I almost always hear about how fascinated their children are with tattoos. Five- and six-year-olds are obsessed with coloring and tracing them and parents literally become living canvases. Ten- and eleven-year-olds want to learn about the meaning of each tattoo and parents can turn one tattoo into a whole story. Teenagers talk to parents about their own ideas for a first tattoo and why it will be significant for them.
Tattoo Parlor is an extension of all the above. It brings parents and children together in a fun and artistic way that will be interesting for all. The tattoo enthusiast will see this as an opportunity to involve their children in the process of getting a tattoo, allowing them to bring their children into a world they have only seen at a distance. It is my hope that this game is not only purchased by parents with tattoos, but by sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles and friends with tattoos who wish to share their love of this artform with family. Whether you have a tattoo or you do not, this game will allow you to experiment with this artform in a unique way, as no game like this currently exists! As children play the game, they can learn about the art of tattooing, fiscal responsibility, patience, and turn-taking while creating unique art along the way. The images I designed for this game are classic not only because they have been around for hundreds of years, but because at their root they evoke feelings of love, adventure, danger and beauty. A picture is worth a thousand words, and to a child seeing these images for the first time, they may inspire a story yet to be told.
How to play:
Players roll the die to move around the Game Board. There are four types of spaces on the Board:
CASH SPACES: When players land on a cash space, they collect $100 from the bank.
CARD SPACES: The player to the left of the player who landed on a Card space draws a Card from the deck and reads the Card aloud to the player. Cards may include answering questions, earning Cash, performing tasks or moving on the Game Board as indicated by the Card.
TATTOO SPACES: When players land on a Tattoo space, they can choose to purchase that Tattoo and add it to their Sleeve Sheet, provided they have enough Money to buy that Tattoo.
Winning the game:
When a player has collected at least 1,000 points worth of Tattoos on a Sleeve Sheet, the game is over and that player is the winner.
