📖 About This Game
Tet Offensive 1968 is a solitaire wargame of the 1968 Communist offensive in Vietnam, covering the period from the opening attacks of January through the subsequent second wave offensive of May and the subsequent Allied counteroffensives. There is also an option to extend the game to the third wave offensive of September 1968. In Tet Offensive, the player controls Allied forces (US, ARVN, SEATO (Free World) allies) while the game system controls the Communists (NVA, VC). Communist mobile forces will strike critical Allied bases and cities, and if they capture them, can win the game. The Allies must use a combination of mobility and firepower to react to threats while also striking against enemy bases. Communist actions are generated by the Infiltration Table, which deploys their reinforcements to bases on the map, and then moves them from those bases to various objectives in South Vietnam. There are also Dau Tranh offensives, enhancing Communist attacks.
Each game turn represents anywhere from one week of intense fighting to one month of refitting and reinforcement. The map is an abstracted depiction of South Vietnam, along with some areas of Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam. Units represent anything from US and Allied divisions down to Viet Cong cadres.
22x34 inch game map and a sheet of 176 5/8 inch counters.
