The Armada

The Dutch rebellion against Spain; English privateering in the Spanish Main; naval armadas large and small plying the coasts of western Europe; and France's religious civil wars: they all set the stage for this hemisphere-wide struggle between the mighty Catholic Empire of Spain and the nascent power of Protestant England. As Spain, you are the aggressor and must impose (or maintain) Catholicism throughout France and Netherlands, or take London and dethrone Protestant Queen Elizabeth. As England, avoid a Spanish victory and you win. Sounds harder for Spain, right? Except Spain has all the wealth, with riches pouring in from the Spanish Main! The Armada is a low-complexity game, where the tide can turn quite rapidly! Each turn is a year, and the units are capital ships and army regiments, as well as local levees and caravels.
