📖 About This Game

The King, his court, and a visiting Frenchman are bored on a long winter day. The King challenges them to a series of races to the top of a hill near the castle. The servants of the castle - the players - are to help the racers. There are great rewards for helping the King win a race? Will you end up helping him? The King's Challenge is a hand-building game in which players compete to play the best 4-card hand to the table as early as possible over 7 turns. But, there is a catch - the hand must have a card from each suit. Rewards for the winning hand decrease the later it is played in the round and bonus points are awarded for stronger winning hands. Have three of a kind? Great! But do you have a card from the fourth suit to play with it? Have a straight? Excellent! But do the four cards cross all four suits? Should a weaker hand be played earlier to try to win more points, or should it be held to potentially build a stronger hand that is more likely to survive to the end of the round? These are just some of the challenges to be faced when playing The King's Challenge. The Patriot Edition (The President's Challenge) and the Texian Edition (The General's Challenge) of the game vary the theme from a King and his court to President Washington and other patriots and General Sam Houston and other Texians of the Texas Revolution, respectively. —description from the designer
