📖 About This Game
A simple family boardgame created to increase awareness of how guide dogs are trained in Australia. Proceeds from the sale of the game assist the Royal Guide Dogs for the Blind Association of Australia.
Roll-and move game with frequent card-draw spaces. The 3 decks of cards (one for each of the puppy walk section, acceptance test section, and training sections of the 104-space track) describe issues with guide dog training, and provide movement bonuses and penalties, as well as possibly causing the withdrawal of the dog from training, or even its death.
Each player begins with 5 dogs to be trained. He starts the first dog off on the track, rolling the die and moving the number of spaces shown (a six allows a second throw), and drawing and actioning any card required to be drawn on his ending space. Once his first dog has reached the third and longest section of the track (square 42 or later), he can start his second dog.
There are no rules for player or dog interaction. Any number of dogs can apparently be on any given space, and all ignore thep resence or movement past of all other dogs.
The winner is the player who gets "the most number of dogs trained first" (i.e. reach the final space with the most surviving dogs).
The board is coloured in a typically 1970s garish mix of hot pink, and primary yellow, blue, green and orange.
Counters are provided for up to 4 players.
