📖 About This Game
ãµã¤doç·ã«ã¼ã (RÅmaji: SaidÅmenkÄdo, English translation: Men of SaidÅsho Cards) is a collectible card game featuring real-life elderly men of the small community of SaidÅsho. The cards feature artwork of the men and abilities themed based on their occupation.
Players battle teams of six men each, arranged in a three-row pyramid: one face-up attacker, two face-down on the frontline, and three face-down on the bench. The attackers battle one another using their attacks and special powers to reduce the other's hit points to zero. Powers may require players to complete certain tasks, such as complimenting their opponent or saying a tongue twister. When an attacker is defeated, a card from the frontline takes their place, and in turn a card from the bench moves to the frontline. The player who defeats all their opponent's men first wins.
SaidÅmen is designed and handmade by staff at SaidÅsho Community Center to address the local generational divide. SaidÅsho is a small community built around a rural train station, in which working-age adults are few due to better employment opportunities in big cities. As such, the population of SaidÅsho is largely two socially-distant groups: the elderly and children. The game has fostered interest and engagement between the two demographics.
